Just like a book, pictures can be read. They have a lot of meaning and seem to speak for themselves. When analyzing a photograph as composition, one needs to look at the use of color for meaning, the place, and how it conveys a message.

The picture I chose is of my immediate family. This picture has a lot of meaning to me. In the picture you see my 2 wonderful parents and all of their 7 children. I am the one on the left hand corner behind my dad. I am the oldest of all of the kids. The first formal family photo was taken in 2005 when my little brother was born, but then we had to take another one when my baby sister was born. Then the Lord surprised our family with another precious baby boy and thus we had to take another one! I think this is funny because we have all 3 pictures put up in our house.

One interesting thing about this picture that not alot of people notice is the fact that the girls are wearing purple and the boys are wearing pink. Sometimes we like to wear the same color, and other times all the girls wear a color and the boys another. My little sister is wearing a lilac shirt because she didnt have a purple one. The photo studio was in K-Mart and my mom ran to look for the closest to purple shirt she could find! My baby brother is not wearing pink because it was impossible to find a pink shirt for a baby boy. Everything they sell for baby boys is blue or green!!

I think this picture is perfect because it represents the type of family that we are: Loving and happy. We're a big family but I like that because we are all very close and even if we fight sometimes, we have a bond that will never be broken.

  1. Hi Samantha,
I understand that your family bond will never be broken. You have a beautiful family. So your baby brother should be starting school now? My younger brother and I would always fight for the dumbest things. Now, we look back and remember all the things we used to do to get each other mad. How silly. But that is just the way it goes, then it would be boring without a little disagreement now and then. Thanx for sharing.
