It is sad to say, but i had never heard about this incident! I was little I guess, but I never found out about it untill today that I did some research on it. It was such a horrible attack! I can not believe that it was a plan of an AMERICAN malicia! How can an American attack their fellow Americans!? It was a terrible loss of life. The Oklahoma City memorial site was so amazing. The pictures and tours were great! It felt as if I were there in person. The memorial is beautiful and values the life of the people who passed away as well as the people who survived.
Reflecting Pool: This is such a beautiful part of the memorial. It is full of symbolism and it clearly adds beauty to the memorial. The water creates soothing sounds and creates a calm and quiet environment for the tourists. The surface of the water shows the reflection of someone changed forever by visiting the memorial. I've never been there, but my view changed just by viewing the pictures!
Field of Empty Chairs: Although the memorial is so beautiful and full of meaning, I believe this is the most significant part of it was this field. Each chair represents a person who passed away during that tragic moment. The chairs have their names engraved. What also really broght sorrow to my heart was the fact that there were smaller chairs. These chairs represent the children who passed away.

Hi Samantha,
ReplyDeleteYeah, I really loved the reflecting pool. It looks awesome and in person I am sure it is more dramatic. I really like what is symbolizes.
I'm glad you looked at this space if you did not remember the event. I think it's something we shouldn't forget. It is also interesting how each generation has its own events that mark it. For mine it was the Challenger explosion, the Oklahoma City bombing and 9/11. I wonder what it will be for yours. I like to think that some of these events might be good, too - elections, laws passed that recognize basic human rights, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou chose really nice symbols to look at. I agree that the chairs are the most powerful symbols.
